The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a global event for people working in creative communication, advertising industry and is considered the largest gathering of these sectors. Besides Facebook were other big names such as Google and Facebook.
Cannes Lions Festival, the event of the advertising and creative communication industry, requires a creative design. Tausch’s design is a combination of outdoor and indoor. There were indoor breakout rooms and outdoor activities on the beach, with the pier serving as a hospitality area.
Facebook’s corporate identity colors are incorporated into the design. The briefing was to play with scale, organic movements and clean lines. We have included bright colors and shapes in the design that fit in with the beach environment. For example, ‘wavy’ shapes have been incorporated into the concept, referring to the beach location. We brought textures to life, used lines and worked with natural materials. The choices for materialization are critically considered in this process, since we will like to deal with high humidity and strong wind during the realization process. Prevention is better than cure, so this is a very important part of the design process. It’s all about the details!
At Cannes Lions festival, construction is carried out in day and night shifts by the production of Tausch consisting of 30 craftsmen. The high winds on the beach (up to 100 km/h) and 100% humidity at night presented major challenges in terms of materials. That is why we have already included these in earlier phases.
